Reader Review for Song of The Nightingale

I picked up ‘Song of the Nightingale’ as we have had a young Eritrean girl volunteering as a helper in our Bookshop and thought it would be good to gain some insight of her country.

As I started reading I just knew this book was special and read it virtually cover to cover that evening (with a short interlude for a pressing chore that I could not put off). My heart stirred as I read about the difficult situations she had to endure but at the same time my spirit soared as I saw her standing firm with amazing courage in refusing to give up her faith. No-one could stop her singing for her Lord. I just wanted to tell everybody you must read this book!

Recently I was lamenting with someone the dearth of modern classic testimonies, (with the exception of Heavenly Man) modern day equivalents of Gods Smuggler, Joni, the Hiding Place, books that would excite people to say ‘Have you read ….’

In the West we have so much to read and watch and share but we don’t value the real cost that some people have to make in following Christ. Turn off the TV and read a book, read this book. ‘Song of a Nightingale’.
